While politics@theEAGLE prepares to re-launch (we’re transitioning, just like President-elect Obama), we have two announcements:
1. Our podcast continues — This week, The Eagle’s staff discusses voter turnout and Obama’s first 100 days in office
2. politics@theEAGLE makes its radio and television debut during the American Forum, a discussion moderated by NPR station WAMU and hosted by American University. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program itself begins at 7 p.m. It’ll be available live on WAMU (WAMU.org) and C-SPAN (check local listings).
Watching the forum right now. It’s very good. I love these meta-media discussions.
Tony: You did an amazing job! I was quite impressed in your knowledge and delivery; professional and competent. Until the CSPAN broadcast I was unfamilar with the Eagle and your coverage. I will definately be looking to the Eagle as a regular source. Keep up the great work!
Amazing!
You did a wonderful job of explaining that Barack Obama used communication resources – blogs, texting, etc.- in ways that had not been previously capitalized on.
I liked your point about, ” Was there a media bias toward Barack Obama, because that’s the issue we’re tap-dancing around”.
Bias? I truly don’t believe so. Awareness by the mainstream media that here was a candidate that was getting his message out without them? Yes! It must have felt like a runaway train that the media couldn’t slow down or derail.
I, a liberal Democrat, watched the broadcast with a hard-line Republican Conservative who had to admit that, “well maybe their wasn’t bias, but the problem with these bloggers is that no one has to prove what their saying is true”, a pount Bob Schieffer made. He found you very credible, which ruined his theory and will be checking out Politics@the eagle today.
It was an amazing panel, and as my 84 year old mother said after watching, “That Tony is as smart as a whip and not only held his own ,but had the most to present because he represented the thing that made the difference in how this election was covered, the spirit of all great journalists – how do I get my message out?”
Congratulations. You got your message out.
